About molly

Molly Ackerly, LCSW

  • Molly provides evidence-based therapy to adults, couples and families. She has over ten years of experience working as a therapist, supervisor, and program director in private practice, residential treatment centers, and outpatient settings. She is a Certified DBT Clinician® provider through the DBT-Linehan Board of Certification and a member of the National Association of Social Workers.

In her private practice, Molly’s approach to therapy is warm and collaborative. She integrates a variety of evidenced-based treatments including Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), Attachment Theory, Prolonged Exposure for PTSD, CBT, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, and Mindful Self-Compassion. When needed, she may assign between-session homework to help clients achieve their goals sooner.

Over time, her clients develop deep self-awareness and learn concrete skills to heal their relationships with themselves and others.

  • Molly holds a Master’s Degree in Clinical Social Work from Columbia University in New York with a specialty in Dialectical Behavior Therapy, and a Bachelor’s Degree in Psychology from George Washington University. While at Columbia University, Molly completed the DBT Training Program and Lab under the supervision of Dr. André Ivanoff, president of Behavioral Tech. She completed her intensive DBT training in 2016 with Randy Wolbert & Gwen Abney-Cunningham at Columbia University.

Molly holds a certification through the DBT Linehan Board of Certification as a DBT Provider. DBT-LBC Certification is an involved assessment to demonstrate the application of knowledge to the performance and delivery of DBT treatment. It is a valuable reassurance to referring clinicians and to the public that other knowledgeable experts in the field of DBT have successfully assessed Molly’s knowledge and skillset in providing adherent DBT. DBT-LBC Certification is the gold standard for DBT providers, and certifies that these providers have achieved the highest standards of clinical excellence in the practice of DBT.
